Can you freeze parsley?

by Patti

I want to preserve my parsley but can't be bothered with drying it as it seems a lot of trouble.

Is it possible to freeze parsley and if so, can you tell me the best way to do it?

Freezing Parsley.

Just pick it,wash it,shake dry and put it in freezer bag and obviously straight into the Freezer. When you want to use some break off the quantity you require add to the cooking.Don't worry about the stalks freezing makes them very brittle so they blend in just like the leaves or if you don't fancy trying that just freeze the leaves.REMEMBER frozen Parsley is only used in cooking.
You could of course grow a pot full for the winter on your windowsill. Soak the seeds overnight pour them onto the compost and wait, you will soon have plenty of Parsley for the winter.

Freezing Parsley
by: Liz

I prefer to freeze parsley rather than any other method.

Drying is hit and miss and can take too long.

You can grow parsley for a lot of the year, but you will need to freeze it if you want to use it for the winter months.

First of all gather your parsley from the plants.

Give it a good rinse and shake it dry.

Some people like to blanch the parsley - dip into boiling water for a few seconds. I don't bother doing that.

Chop it finely and pack into ice cube trays. Cover it with a few drops of water and pop in the freezer.

When it has frozen, tip it out of the trays into a poly bag.

Each cube, if it's been packed hard down into the tray, will be the equivalent of about a tablespoon.

Use the frozen parsley in normal cooking.

Just drop the ice cube in towards the end of cooking.
