cutting sage down each year

I have three nice sage plants I planted last year.

Do I cut them back or do I just leave them alone and let them start growing again?

Sage Plants
by: Liz from www.the-herb-guide.com

Hi Marcie

Let them grow unchecked if they're not too big.

The problem with sage is that sometimes they just die when they get to three or four years old - no reason, just fail to grow and then die down.

The way round this is to take cuttings from the plants every year or two and that way you will always have a fresh one to replace.

Sage is a lovely herb - it's highly aromatic and has many culinary and medicinal uses.

It's also evergreen and so gives interest in your garden all year.
