Feverfew...More than just for migraines!

by Richard Dixson
(St. Joe, Arkansas, USA)

Feverfew is one of the best treatments for migraines, but is much more than just that.

Feverfew is a well known relief for the accompanying symptoms such as nausea, depression and dizziness.

Feverfew is also a good relief for arthritis in its active inflammatory stage(it has the ability to neutralize certain prostaglandins, substances that have been linked to pain and inflammation) and prostaglandins that play a role in menstrual cramps.

Like chamomile, a relative of feverfew, it contains chemicals that will calm the smooth muscles of the digestive tract, making feverfew an antispasmodic.

Taken after meals, feverfew will protect against digestive upset.

Personally, I suffer with insomnia and along with valerian, feverfew has proved to be an excellent sleep aid.

With women who suffer with hot flashes, a combination of feverfew, mother wort and wild yam root is the cooling combination.***CAUTION:

Although feverfew has not been shown to cause uterine contractions, it has a long history of being a menstruation promoter and pregnant women should NOT use feverfew.

Because of its antispasmodic affects, feverfew has been shown to sooth smooth muscles, such as the uterus and bring about menstruation.
