List of Perennial Herbs

by Bob
(Ottawa Ontario Canada)

I would like to have a list of perennial herbs.

I don't like to replant every year. I started growing herbs last year.

For the present I would like to keep it simple & use perennials only.

Horsetail NEW
by: Anonymous

Hi Anonymous - are you asking what Horsetail is or challenging me regarding its inclusion?

The latin name is Equisetum arvense if that helps you identify it.

It is most definitely perennial and has many uses - medicinal as a diruetic, antiseptic and astringent - also as a metal clesner.

In Germany it's known as the Pewter Plant perhaps for that reason and it's commonly used by watchmakers for an extra smooth finish.

Hope that clarifies for you

Regards

Liz

Perennial Herbs
by: Anonymous

Hi Bob

Perennial herbs are a good choice and you'll get a lot of variety.

Bay
Bergamot
Chamomile
Chives
Fennel
Horseradish
Horsetail
Juniper
Lemon Balm
Lovage
Pot Marjoram
Mint
Rosemary
Sage
Savory
Sorrel
Sweet Cicely
Tarragon
Thyme
Valerian
Verbena

This is not exhaustive and I'm sure other people will add different herbs.

You might like to add some herbs you use frequently - such as parsley, basil, oregano, dill and savory - these are anuuals or biennials but would make for a fuller herb garden.

Best of luck with your growing.

Bye for now

Liz
